Artists > Clive Alexander Jebbett
Clive Jebbett is an established British artist and upon seeing Clive's first painting earlier this year, the Directors at Gallery LeFort felt this was a talent not to be missed.
Born in North London, Clive moved to Colchester at the age of six. At sixteen, he attended Colchester School of Art, but left after two years without completing the Fine art degree course.
Co - founder of the Essex Arts Circus, Clive exhibited widely in small group and one-man shows until moving to York in 1973. In 1974, he became Exhibition organiser/Art representative for Yok Arts Centre whilst continuing to exhibit in both group and solo shows until 1978.
However, after a successful show at York City Art Gallery (First Four Exhibition, 1978), he stopped painting except on selective commissions and almost totally abandoned the brush for the camera. Disatisfied with the Photographic Print as a medium and as a surface, Clive returned to Painting in 1998, with the ability and positive vision to realise the images that beguiled him.
Clive has been represented by the Anstey Galleries since 1999, Taylor-Pick Fine Art since January 2005 and from December 2007 the Wine Street Gallery. His works are currently in private and corporate collections (including nine works in the UNILEVER COLLECTION) In England, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Canada and America.
His Work is available through Gallery LeFort Fine Art, Bath,
