Paul's most loved art genre, concentrates on the portraiture but he also enjoys the challenge of nature, especially in the study of the horse, along with the landscape which surrounds him.
He works using a broken colour technique in a variety of mediums,but after over twenty years experience he prefers the flexibility and freshness of acrylics had nas developed techniques whil allow him to work in washes, glazes or textured impasto.
He was born in 1952 and grew up in the Cotsworlds, after finishing school he left to study art in Kent where during the 1970's he worked full time as an artist. Then, like many of his generation, he moved into advertising and design. This led him to move to Austria where he worked for a design agency in the ski resort of Mayerhofen in the Tirol. On his return to England he worked for various design agences in London where he continued to paint.
During the 1990's he commenced lecturing at the School of Art in Swindon; this he found so rewarding , he studied for his teaching certificate and moved into full-time teaching. Throughout this time he painted, exhibiting both in London and the South West.
He has recently returned from living in San Miguel de Salinas in Spain where for four years he painted whilst being employed by the Ayntamiento (local council) to teach art.
He moved back to the U.K. in 2003 where he remains teaching art and painting.
